The Valley Cabin

The dark stained timber of the façade lets the cabin all but disappear into the greenery. The covered deck, built in fresh spruce, is the first thing to greet you: a hanging rattan chair, a low table and two soft stools — nothing more. This is where the morning sun lands, and where coffee gets drunk slowly.

The large window beside the bed looks straight into the birches. Heavy curtains give you complete darkness, sheer white ones are there for the mornings. The glazed door opens onto the deck — in summer you leave it wide open, in winter you turn on the heating and stay in to watch the weather.

The bathroom has a walk-in shower with a glass screen and a fixed brass rainhead, wood-effect tiling, a round white basin on a spruce countertop and a full-length mirror. Simple details, warm materials.
